The Football Association have confirmed the appointment of Thomas Tuchel as the new England manager with his reign set to commence as of January 2025.

The former Chelsea and Bayern Munich manager has agreed to coach the English national team for the next 18 months which will include the 2026 World Cup.

Tuchel boasts an exceptional pedigree in knockout football having won the Champions League with the Blues, reached the final with PSG and won the German and French cups.

The German manager will once again link up with the Three Lions’ captain Harry Kane who he managed last season at Bayern. Kane has been quick to react to the 52-year-old’s appointment sending him a message on social media.

Harry Kane sends message to Thomas Tuchel

Kane has revealed that he is “looking forward” to working alongside Tuchel again following their spell together at Munich last season.

Tuchel brought Kane to the Allianz Arena in a club-record deal from Tottenham worth around £100 million in the summer of 2023.

The former Spurs striker enjoyed the most prolific season of his career under the 51-year-old as he netted 44 goals in 45 games.

After the FA confirmed the appointment of the former Bayern coach, Kane took to X to write: “Looking forward to playing under the boss again!”

How could England line-up under Thomas Tuchel

The appointment of Tuchel is likely to bring the change of a three-at-the-back system which brought him much success at Chelsea.

The former Bayern coach will have a real headache though trying to fit all the talented players into his side which could see some stars played in unusual roles.

Bukayo Saka could be a player who could be used in a wing-back role having played there for Arsenal and at Euro 2024.

How England could line up under Tuchel: Pickford; Trent, Konsa, Guehi, Colwill, Saka; Bellingham Rice; Palmer, Kane, Foden.
